Free placemaking workshop taking place near you, reserve your space today!

The Placemaking Strategy Development Workshop Series continues through the end of May. These events are free and open to the public, so be sure to reserve your space today! The series, co-hosted by the MSU Land Policy Institute, MSU Extension and the Michigan Municipal League.
There are two sets of workshops to choose from: Option 1 workshops (three hours of instruction), or Option 2 workshops (three hours of instruction and three hours of facilitated development of a draft placemaking strategy for each community in attendance). The next set of workshops for each type are listed below:
- Option 1: Traverse City (May 6), Saginaw (May 12), Grand Rapids (May 13), and Kalamazoo (May 14).
- Option 2: Frankfort (May 5), Marshall (May 6), Clinton Twp. (May 7), Pontiac (May 18), Howell and St. Johns* (May 20), Iron Mountain (May 26), Ishpeming and Taylor (May 27), Hancock (May 28, and Escanaba (May 29).
The intended audience for these workshops are city council and township boards; local, county and regional staff; county and planning commissioners; civic leaders; businesses; and key developers and community members. Communities will need multiple participants to maximize synergy and benefit for the community, especially for Option 2 Workshops.
These workshops are free and open to the public with meals on your own. RSVPs are required and registration is available online. Space is limited to first come, first served! Michigan Citizen Planner is offering one CEU (continuing education unit) per one hour of instruction for Master Citizen Planners (three (3.0) CEUs for Option 1 workshops, up to six (6.0) CEUs for Option 2 workshops).
*Six AICP credits are available for this session.
